What information do I collect on you?
I will collect your name, email address and project details when you contact me. I may also collect a sample of the work to be proofread/edited, although this may not always be required at the outset.
In the event that we agree to work together, I will collect your postal address (which I may include on invoices). I will also ask for a contact number and the file(s) required for the work.
I do not collect any financial information. On receipt of my invoice for services you will be asked to pay by an appropriate method.
What do I do with the information?
All of the personal data I hold about you will be processed by me. It will be used to contact you to enable me to perform the agreed work, and to collect payment for my services. Your name (or your business name) and general details of the service I am providing (i.e. project size and general description, hours worked and agreed fees) will be stored on spreadsheets I use to keep track of my accounts. I will share this data with the IRS in the event that they require it as part of an audit.
I may periodically send promotional emails to you about special offers or other information which I think you may find interesting using the email address which you have provided. You will always be given the opportunity to opt out of such mailings.
I am committed to ensuring that your information is held securely and so work with reputable hosts. However, the nature of the internet means that information sent electronically can be intercepted, therefore any information you send me is at your own risk.
Emails are stored on my password-protected email account. I do not have an external address book. Files are stored on my hard drive and/or in a password-protected Cloud account.
